As promised, here are the photos of the cake I made for a baby shower! Another challenge completed successfully.

I’ll be honest, at one point I thought I wasn’t going to be able to do it. I knew it was going to be tough, but not in the way I expected: I thought the fondant would have been difficult to work with, but it really wasn’t. It was the SIZE of the cake that gave me problems! The cake ended up being nearly 20 pounds, (I am not even exaggerating. I’ve held enough babies to know what 14 pounds feels like… this was heavier.) and the bottom layer (which was 12×12) alone took me 6 hours to finish! The entire cake took 9 hours to complete, and that’s without a lunch break. (I just snacked on the excess cake that I cut off, haha.)

I made the monkey entirely out of fondant! He was my favorite part of the whole cake. (And can I just tell you, dying the fondant was the BEST arm workout! I bought the fondant white, so every color you see on the cake I dyed by hand. Phew.)

It doesn’t look super professional, but for the first time working with fondant, and for such a large cake, I think I did really well
